IEP ADVOCACY SERVICES

Initial Record Review

  • Collecting all the evaluations, assessments, observations, and any other documents administered by the school and/or third parties.
  • Reading all of the documents, conceptualize the case, and identify various plans of action based on the information.
  • Meeting with the parent(s) to review the documents, exchange conceptualizes of the case, verify if the documentation obtained matches the child, and discuss what plan of action is best for the child to thrive in school.

Identification meeting

An identification meeting can be initiated by any direct care adult in the child’s life that suspects a disability that will impact the child’s academic needs. The purpose of this meeting is to identify if there is a need for the school to gather data on the child to verify eligibility for an individualized education plan (IEP).

Services Provided for an Identification meeting:

  • Meeting in person, over the phone, or Zoom with the parent(s) and/or direct care adult to discuss the observations and reasons for identification.
  • Review any documentation already obtained to support the need for identification.
  • Make recommendations for documents and/or data that can support the need for identification.
  • Letters to invoke some of the parent’s rights regarding procedure will be provided to the parent(s) to present to the school before the meeting begins.
  • I can also accompany the parent(s) to the meeting in-person, via phone call, or Zoom to provide support and advocacy during the meeting.
  • Outcome Debriefing- a 30 minute -1 hour session to process the outcome of the meeting.

Eligibility Meeting

An eligibility meeting is a meeting with various members of the IEP team to go over the documentation (evaluations, assessments, observations, assessments, observations, samples of school assignments, etc.) and determine if the child meets criteria to have an individualized education plan. The IEP team may also identify what category of the IDEA the child meets eligibility under.

Services Provided for an eligibility Meeting

  • A full record review including meeting with the parent’s.
  • I can also accompany the parent(s) to the meeting in-person, via phone call, or Zoom to provide support and advocacy during the meeting.
  • Outcome Debriefing – a 30 minute to 1 hour session to process the outcome of the meeting.

Individualized Education Plan Development Meeting

An individualized education plan (IEP) meeting is a meeting to discuss the IEP draft the school has developed based on the information obtained. An IEP should cover academic goals, accommodations, modifications, additional services, and resources the child needs to receive a free appropriate public education.

Services Provided for an Individualized Education Plan Development Meeting

  • Review the IEP Draft prior to meeting with the parent and before the IEP Development Meeting.
  • Meeting with the parent(s) to discuss the needs of the child and identify possible goals, supports, wrap around services, accommodations, and or modifications at school prior to the IEP Development Meeting.
  • I can also accompany the parent(s) to the meeting in-person, via phone call, or Zoom to provide support and advocacy during the meeting.
  • Outcome Debriefing – a 30 minute to 1 hour session to process the outcome of the meeting.

Yearly Review Meeting

A yearly review meeting is a meeting with the IEP team to evaluate progress and make any changes to the plan to prepare for the next school year. This typically includes a summary review of the data, reports, and/or observations gathered over the year and explaining the IEP draft the school is propositioning for the following school period.

Services Provided for a Yearly Review Meeting

  • Review the IEP Draft prior to meeting with the parent and before the Yearly Review Meeting.
  • Meeting with the parent(s) prior to the Yearly Review Meeting to discuss the data and IEP draft proposed for the following school year, as well as identify changes the parent(s) would like to make.
  • I can also accompany the parent(s) to the meeting in-person, via phone call, or Zoom to provide support and advocacy during the meeting.
  • Outcome Debriefing – a 30 minute to 1 hour session to process the outcome of the meeting.

Tri-annual Meeting

A Tri-annual meeting is a meeting with the IEP team to review updated data and/or documentation administered to obtain a current snapshot of your child’s academic functioning.

Services Provided for a Tri-annual Meeting

  • A full record review including meeting with the parent’s.
  • I can also accompany the parent(s) to the meeting in-person, via phone call, or Zoom to provide support and advocacy during the meeting.
  • Outcome Debriefing – a 30 minute to 1 hour session to process the outcome of the meeting.

Tri-annual IEP Update Meeting

A Tri-annual IEP Update meeting is a meeting were the IEP team summarizes the updated data collected and what updates to the IEP are proposed.

Services Provided for a Tri-annual Meeting

  • Review the IEP Draft prior to meeting with the parent and before the Tri-annual Meeting.
  • Meeting with the parent(s) to discuss the needs of the child and identify possible goals, supports, wrap around services, accommodations, and or modifications at school prior to the Tri-annual Meeting.
  • I can also accompany the parent(s) to the meeting in-person, via phone call, or Zoom to provide support and advocacy during the meeting.
  • Outcome Debriefing – a 30 minute to 1 hour session to process the outcome of the meeting.

Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) Meeting

This is a meeting to assess the need for the child to develop a behavioral intervention plan. If the team decides a BIP is appropriate for the child it will be developed and reviewed sometime as frequent as a monthly basis.  

Services Provided for a BIP Meeting

  • Review the BIP Draft prior to meeting with the parent and before the BIP meeting.
  • Meeting with the parent(s) to discuss the needs of the child and identify possible behavioral goals, objectives, and strategies considered for his BIP.
  • I can also accompany the parent(s) to the meeting in-person, via phone call, or Zoom to provide support and advocacy during the meeting.
  • Outcome Debriefing – a 30 minute to 1 hour session to process the outcome of the meeting.

Intermittent IEP Meeting

This is an IEP meeting initiated by a parent or teacher anytime throughout the year to address a specific topic.

Services Provided for an Intermittent IEP Meeting

  • Session with the parent(s) prior to the meeting to discuss the topic and review any information relevant to the topic that will be presented at the meeting.
  • I can also accompany the parent(s) to the meeting in-person, via phone call, or Zoom to provide support and advocacy during the meeting.
  • Outcome Debriefing – a 30 minute to 1 hour session to process the outcome of the meeting.

Phone calls with direct care professionals (teachers, therapists, doctors, etc.)

When Payments Are Due

1. Invoices will be sent to clients at the end of each month. Payment is due to Cory Dunn upon receipt of the monthly invoice. The latest date payment will be accepted by Cory Dunn without assigning late fees is the 15th of the following month the client receives the billing invoice.

 

2. Outstanding balances delinquent for more than 1 month from the invoice statement date will be subject to a late fee of $10.00 for the first month, with the late fee increasing by $5.00 each subsequent month payment has not been received
